For most engineers limiting is usually the last step in the process and can make or break the sound of your final masters. Whether you’re trying to compete in the loudness wars or just get your track up to industry standard, some important things to consider when choosing which type of limiter to apply are: Single band or Multi-band control, type of metering used, threshold/attack/release control, make up gain, EQ control, parallel processing, multiband processing, mid-side processing, and dithering options. Here’s a list of some of our favorite Limiters at the studio.
- Slate FG-X
- Massey L2007
- iZotope Ozone 7
- Fabfilter Pro-L
- Waves L1, L2, & L3 Multimaximizer
- Sonnox Oxford Limiter
